West Siberian Railways loaded 156,052 million tons of freight in first seven months of 2012

West Siberian Railways loaded 156,052 million tons of freight from January to July 2012, an increase of 4,372 million tons or 2.9% over the same period last year.

In particular, various types of freight exceeded last year’s figures, including coal, which was up 2.3% to 112,544 million tons, oil, up 10.9% to 10,165 million tons, and coke, up by 8.1% to 4,622 million tons. In addition, the volume of construction materials loaded rose by 15.6% to 6,799 million tons.

Freight shipments of grain and milled products from January to July 2012 also exceeded last year’s level, rising by 32.6%, to 2,138 million tons.

Freight turnover in the first 7 months of 2012 increased by 1.1% compared to the same period in 2011 and amounted to 180.173 billion ton-kilometres, according to the office of corporate communications at West Siberian Railways.
